Predicted Arsenal XI for Liverpool trip as Mikel Arteta faces two major selection headaches

Arsenal are set to face the ultimate test of their title credentials on Sunday as they make the trip to Liverpool.

The Gunners sit eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table but have not won at Anfield in the Premier League since 2012 and so a win would represent a huge step towards lifting the trophy next month.

Mikel Arteta faces two major selection headaches heading into the match with some big decisions to be made in both defence and attack.

It remains unclear as to whether key centre back William Saliba will be fit with Arsenal said to be monitoring his condition on a day-to-day basis.

Should he fail to make it, Rob Holding is likely to be continue at centre back for the third successive game after playing 90 minutes in each of the two recent 4-1 victories over Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

The rest of the back four, and midfield trio almost selects itself, with Benjamin White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard set to start.

Arteta, though, faces a tough call on who to leave out of the front three, with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard all pushing to start.

Saka started last weekend's win against Leeds on the bench, but will almost certainly come back in on the right hand side.

Jesus scored twice on his first league start since November six days ago and is therefore likely to lead the line, leaving Trossard and Martinelli to battle it out for that last spot.

The latter has been on fire in front of goal in recent weeks, while the former has proved to be a superb January signing and also netted a hattrick at Anfield with Brighton earlier in the season.

Predicted Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Ramsdale; White, Holding, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli
