A pre-budget commitment to skills for future offshore wind workers was secured by Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers seconds before Chancellor Rishi Sunak got to his feet.
The Conservative backbencher was selected for the penultimate question at PMQs, immediately ahead of the 2022 Budget being delivered.
With an imminent visit front of mind, Mr Vickers said: “This week is UK Wind Week and later this afternoon I will be welcoming some young people from my constituency who see their futures in the renewable energy sector which has done so much to level up the Grimsby, Cleethorpes and North East Lincolnshire area.

"Will the Prime Minister give an assurance that the government will continue to invest in the skills and development of our young people to benefit the regional renewable energy sector?”
Offshore wind has been a leading part of the Covid recovery, and tops the 10-point plan for a green industrial revolution, with those in government telling how it has been based on success seen in the Humber.
More than 2,000 direct jobs are now recognised in the region, with many more to come as Orsted, RWE and Siemens Gamesa expand further and new manufacturing arrives at Able Marine Energy Park.
Responding, Boris Johnson said: “Yes, the whole House should be proud of the fact that the UK now produces more offshore wind - not hot air - energy for the people of this country. “Clean green energy, produced off Cleethorpes, in the North Sea, and we are going to be massively increasing the volume of that output.”
Deployment has been accelerated, with huge sums in previous fiscal announcements channelled into the Humber.
It comes as CWind also invests in further training capability at Port of Grimsby.
