Six members of Japanese idol girl group AKB48 performed for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House yesterday during a visit to prepare for a Bangkok concert in December.
Prime Minister's Office Minister Kobsak Pootrakul introduced Gen Prayut to Nanami Asai, Erii Chiba, Saho Iwatate, Shinobu Mogi, Chiyori Nakanishi and Yukari Sasaki.
The prime minister welcomed them by saying the upcoming concert would draw a large audience and help forge relations between Thailand and Japan in cultural and tourism terms.
He also praised Japanese investors in Thailand for helping develop the country.
The six AKB48 members danced to their popular song Koi Suru Fortune Cookie for the prime minister who said the song encouraged people to give moral support to one another while going through hard times.
