A majority of people are of the opinion that the government under Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is most unimpressive in the economic work during the past year, followed by political reform and its handling of the problem over southern border provinces, according to an opinion survey by National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll.
The poll was conducted on Dec 13-14 on 1,250 people aged 18 and over throughout the country.
Asked in what fields they think the Prayut government has performed unimpressively, 58.16% mentioned the economic work; 47.76% the political reforms and preparations for elections; and, 47.28% its handling of the problem over the southern border provinces.
According to the respondents, the three most impressive fields of work by the government are: 75.68% the financial assistance for newly-born children; 64.80% the reclamation of forest land and its actions to solve land problems; and, 62.56% the reorganisation of order for footpath vendors, public van passengers and public beaches as well as its suppression against encroachment of public land.
Asked whether they are impressed by the overall performances of the Prayut government during the past year, 23.68% said they are much impressed; 34.56% farily impressed; 21.60% little impressed; 19.68% not impressed at all; and, 0.48% had no comment.
