Prayers sent to family hit by coronavirus after dad and daughter die within days

Prayers have been sent to a family tragically hit by coronavirus after a father and daughter died within days of each other.

Gillian Gapare died aged just 28 on April 4. Her mother Angelina, is continuing to fight the virus in hospital after her husband, 56-year-old Guide Gapare, died on April 20.

The close-knit family have been devastated by the deaths as tributes to the beloved pair have poured in on social media.

On Facebook, many people shared their condolences to the family after the heartbreaking loss as other sent prayers that the mother would get better.

Linda Woolley said: "So tragic. Prayers to the family and I hope mum gets better soon."

Ann McAlan also said: "Oh my, so tragic to lose two of their family. Pray that your Mum gets better. Take care."

Margaret Boyelorkah added: "Another family with a great loss. Rest in peace both of you."

Gillian's sister Glenda spoke out to pay tribute to her loved ones.

The 24-year-old said: "She [Gillian] would do everything and anything for her family.

"She’s now gone but she is still my world, my support system, my best friend, my second mother even and she really felt the full force of how cruel this life is."

ECHO reader Joan Hart said: "So sad RIP. Hope your mum gets better."

Sandra Kershaw also said: "How cruel is this virus! Sending my deepest sympathy to all the family."

Julie Bibby said: "RIP Angels. God bless the family."

Maureen Ryan added: "Oh how awful! So sorry for all family and friends, I hope the mum recovers soon."

Just four days after Gillian had passed away, Angelina became unwell and was taken hospital.

Glenda believes her mum's symptoms worsened giving her dying daughter CPR.

But the sadness has not ended there for the family.

As their mum entered hospital they learnt that their father, Guide had become extremely unwell and tragically lost his life.

Glenda said: "He died last night (April 20) in hospital, there was nothing we could do."

The sisters said their father was refused ventilation because he had underlying health conditions.

Now, all Glenda and Glory can do is pray for their mum's recovery.

Glenda said: "It is devastating. But because I am the big sister I have to look after Glory.

"I also need to be strong for mum otherwise it may slow down her recovery.

"She is in hospital and has lost her child and the father of her kids.

"We are taking one day at a time, we don't know how we are going to get over this."

The family have set up a Go Fund Me Page which was initially created to help cover costs of Gillian's burial but they're now organising two funerals.

Glenda said: "These are unprecedented times so we can't have a normal funeral for Gillian or for my father.

"We can only have 10 people at a burial site and then it is just a blessing, it is not a proper service.

"We are waiting to do a burial for them both when my mum comes out of hospital."

The family have expressed their gratitude to everyone who has donated to their page so far.
