Prayagraj girl is India's youngest woman to hold skydiving licence

PRAYAGRAJ: A 21 year old budding engineer of the Sangam City has made history by becoming the youngest female to get a licence for professional skydiving.

Anamika Sharma, the younger among two daughters of a former non-commissioned officer of IAF, JWO (retd) Ajay Kumar Sharma, first jumped from the height of 10,000 feet when she was just 10-year old. Now she has jumped 42 times, using 10 different types of parachutes and from 6 different aircrafts.

Second year engineering student Anamika and her father, who was a trained commando of IAF, are the only pair of father and daughter who are professional sky-divers. At 21, she got her A category professional licence from United State Parachute Association (USPA) at Dubai drop zone, this January. She is the fifth female professional skydiver of the country. "With the support of my family and best friend of my father Santosh Nagraj, today I feel so proud being only the fifth female professional sky-diver in the country and the youngest to achieve the feet," said Anamika while talking to TOI on phone. To achieve this accomplishment, young Anamika was trained by her father and earlier by his father's friend and ace sky-diver of the country, who has a category D USPA licence, Santosh Nagraj.

"To get the licence as a professional sky-diver, she was trained in Moscow in August-September 2021 and in Dubai in November 21 and again in January 2022," said Ajay Kumar Sharma.
