Veteran Prayad Marksaeng won the Lamphun Championship by four strokes yesterday.
The 52-year-old shot a one-under-par 69 in the final round for a total of 21-under 259 in the season-opener of the Thailand PGA Tour.
Thanyakorn Krongpha came in second after hitting a 68 for 263 in the two-million-baht tournament at Gassan Legacy Golf Club.
Prayad took home 240,000 baht in prize money and Thayakorn got 132,000 baht.
"Everything was okay for me today but the ball just did not drop into the hole,'' said Prayad.
He said he missed several putts that allowed Thanyakorn to close the gap to two shots at one stage.
But Prayad was a relieved man when Thanyakorn hit the ball into a bunker that ended his challenge.
Thanyakorn, who was five strokes off the pace after three rounds, said it was a pity that he ran out of steam in the final stretch.
"I cut his lead to two shots but I suffered two bogeys in the final four holes. Although I got a birdie on the last hole, I was a little too late,'' said the 27-year-old.
Amateur Wishayanont Chotehiranrungroeng, who will represent Thailand at this year's Asian Games, was third on 265.
