A brief update now on our new character Bishop Jonathan Blake, whom we formally welcomed into the Lost in Showbiz communion last Friday.
His reverence caught our eye having officiated at Jade Goody's wedding and the non-Church bit of her funeral, but describes himself as an "on-call bishop, featured extensively on television, radio and throughout media". Alas, last week's item on these pages moved him to blog about "caustic and sarcastic commentators".
"The truth is that the media circus, fame, money and any recent attention means nothing to me," he declared. "That's why I happily arrived at Jade's wedding in our clapped out Previa stuck together with duct tape."
Yes ... And yet, it seems the Previa is not the only vehicle in his holy fleet.
Do take a look at the above God-wagon, as I hand over to Jonathan's website for its specs. "As an On Call Bishop," we learn, "Bishop Jonathan has amber beacons and reflective chevrons fitted to his car." He is "available to anyone in a crisis", and "offers roadside assistance whenever he can and if he ever discovers anyone in need". "When Bishop Jonathan stops," it continues, "he notifies control of his whereabouts and his intention. Any complicated situations are recorded for safety purposes."
So many questions! What constitutes a crisis? Is there some kind of bat-signal Lost in Showbiz can point into the sky to summon his reverence? And who is "control"? All further details/sightings of this fourth emergency service are most welcome.
