Pranksters apology to Tallaght priest over false online claims 'that went too far'

A Tallaght priest who was a target of false online allegations has received a letter of apology.

Fr Ben Moran was a victim of a malicious rumour that had spread like wildfire on social media on Easter Sunday.

But the Parish Priest of St Aengus in Balrothery recently received a letter of apology saying the rumour was a joke between two people that went too far.

Additionally, a donation was made to the church on behalf of the person who wrote the letter with Fr Moran accepting the apology.

Previously Dublin Live had reported how Fr Moran made a formal complaint to gardai over the false social media post about him.

Speaking about the allegations, he had said: "To me, I felt there was kind of something evil about it.

He added: “It was very hurtful and upsetting."
