Prank Prince George's godmother plays every birthday thanks to Diana

A close friend of Diana, Princess of Wales, who became godmother to both Prince William and then his son Prince George has revealed the annoying prank she plays every birthday, thanks to Diana.

Julia Samuel says Diana started the tradition and she has decided to carry it on - no matter how annoying it is for Kate and William.

Ms Samuel, 60, said: “I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making.

“William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that.”

Seeing William putting the toys together with difficulty is a source of amusement for the family - especially for "cheeky" George, reports The Mirror.

Watching William struggle to assemble the toys “makes me laugh, and it makes George laugh”, she added.

Ms Samuel revealed the birthday trick on the podcast How to Fail with Elizabeth Day.

She said that George is "amazing" — "He's funny and feisty and cheeky and God she [Diana] would have loved him so much," she said.

"That is heartbreaking for all of them."
