Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s health condition has declined as he developed infection in the lungs, the Army’s Research and Referral (R&R) hospital said on Wednesday.

“There has been a decline in the medical condition of Pranab Mukherjee as he has developed features of lung infection. He continues to be on ventilatory support and is currently being managed by a team of specialists,” the hospital said in a statement.

On August 10, Mr. Mukherjee underwent a life-saving emergency surgery for a brain clot and has since been on ventilator support. He has also tested positive for COVID-19.
