St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson hailed the attitude of his comeback kings after Saturday’s stunning second half in Ayrshire.
The Perth side had been left with a mountain to climb after conceding twice against hosts Kilmarnock in the opening 45 minutes.
But an inspired display after the break flipped the script and clinched a hugely important three points for the Saints.
Guy Melamed and Murray Davidson levelled proceedings before a peach of a strike from Ali McCann completed the turnaround.
“We moved the ball really well but the criticism is how we defended both goals to go 2-0 down,” Davidson said.
“I asked the players to keep showing the belief in how they were playing and hopefully we would get chances.
“Second half I thought they were brilliant - their attitude, the way they got on the ball and got into spaces to hurt Kilmarnock.
“When we got our chances, some were scrappy goals but I’ll take that. It was a fine finish from Ali to win us the game.”
Striker Callum Hendry was again not in the matchday squad and Saints are exploring the idea of a loan move.
But manager Callum Davidson, who rates the 23-year-old highly, says any switch has to be the best possible one for Hendry’s development.
Competition has been strong in the forward department with Chris Kane, Stevie May and Melamed all also vying for a start.
A number of clubs have shown interest in Hendry, who has another year remaining on his Perth contract.
On the potential of a loan move, Davidson said: “Only if it’s right for Callum and myself.
“Callum wants to play football and, for me, it has to be the right move for him to develop.
“I see him as a big player for me next season. He is still young in terms of development. I rate him really highly.”
Discussing the closing stages of the transfer window, Davidson added: “There might be one or two things that fall into place but there is a lot of work to be done. We’ll wait and see.”
