Prada x Adidas: a first look at the very limited edition collection

Prada for Adidas collaboration 25.11.2019 (Picture: Prada for Adidas )

After weeks of teasing eager fans, Prada and Adidas have finally released information on their hotly-anticipated collaboration.

And it’s looking very much like it’s worth the wait.

The two-piece collection comprises a pair of Prada Superstar trainers and a Prada for Adidas Bowling bag, both of which are sold together as a set.

Just 700 of the bag and sneaker sets have been produced, and in order to highlight this exclusivity, on the side of each sneaker there’s an edition number embossed in to the Italian-made leather.

The collaboration is the first Prada has done with another brand (Prada for Adidas )

The launch of the collaboration coincides with 50th anniversary of the Adidas Superstar, which was first launched in 1969 as an on-court basketball shoe.

The Prada for Adidas collaboration comes after the brand became the first luxury fashion house to obtain a loan with stringent sustainability-related conditions attached to it, including the stipulation that the brand’s use of virgin nylon must be phased out by 2021.

Prada was founded in Italy in 1913 by Mario Prada. Prada's granddaughter, Miuccia, is now head designer of the brand, while sportswear brand Adidas was founded by Adolf "Adi" Dassler in Germany in 1949.

Pricing of Prada for adidas Limited Edition is not yet known, but the Superstar and bowling bag will retail online through adidas.com and prada.com, and at selected Prada stores worldwide from December 4.
