Calling all my witchy friends: Practical Magic 2 is happening!!! Warner Bros just dropped the trailer for the 1998 cult film and the gals are back and more magical than ever!
The first glimpse of Practical Magic 2 has finally arrived, and it’s already stirring up a potent mix of nostalgia and curiosity. Decades after the original film cast its spell on audiences, the newly released trailer hints at a return to the Owens sisters’ world, played by the fabulous Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock.
So brew a batch of Midnight Margaritas and let’s get stuck into it, shall we?

Who has been cast in Practical Magic 2?
The coven is officially back and yep, that includes your faves Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman returning as Sally and Gillian Owens, which honestly would’ve been a dealbreaker if they weren’t involved.
Also back in the mix are Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing as the chaotic aunt duo, because of course you can’t do Practical Magic without them.
But this isn’t just a throwback situation, the sequel is clearly setting up a new generation. Joey King and Maisie Williams are front and centre in the trailer, hinting at younger Owens women dealing with the whole “love is cursed” situation (love that for them, truly).
Then there are some fresh additions like Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod — all still a bit mysterious, so stay tuned!

Is there a trailer?
There sure is!
The sequel dives headfirst into a world of midnight chaos, family lore and seriously potent magic. The Owens sisters are forced to reckon with a long-looming curse that could tear their lineage apart and it all unfolds in a spectacle packed with fun, spells and just the right amount of mayhem.
This time around, Sally’s daughters are grown up and carving out lives of their own, while Gilly’s embraced a quieter existence (yes, there’s a black cat involved). Naturally, that peace doesn’t last. A mysterious figure — played by Lee Pace — drags the sisters out of their sleepy New England bubble and into a high-stakes mission that’s anything but low-key.
Have a watch below:
What will Practical Magic 2 be about?
The first Practical Magic film was based on Alice Hoffman’s novel from 1995, and it followed the two Owens sisters. The witches live a cursed life, as any man who dares to fall in love with an Owens woman meets an untimely death.
Hoffman wrote three additional books about the witchy family, so there are possibly some plot clues when we look into her material.
The Rules of Magic is a prequel to Practical Magic, and it follows the story of Gillian and Sally’s aunts, Bridget ‘Jet’ Owens (Wiest) and Frances Owens (Channing) as they deal with the curse.
Magic Lessons, another prequel, reveals the origins of the curse through Maria Owens’ story in 1600.
The Book of Magic, a sequel to Practical Magic was released in 2021. It follows three generations, with a focus on Sally’s daughters and their determination to end the curse for good. One user on X said the ending of TBOM is “really satisfying” and that “lots of secrets are revealed”.
When will it be released in Australia?
Grab your broomsticks, Practical Magic 2 is scheduled to be released in Australian cinemas on September 18, 2026.
This sequel is gonna be so good, I can just feel it in my bones! Let’s call it ~*intuition*~. Or day I say… magic.
