PPL PRS becomes official music partner of Leicester Tigers

Leicester-based music licensing company PPL PRS has struck a deal with Leicester Tigers to become its official music partner for the 2022/23 season.

The organisatioin hopes the partnership will help to create a more musical match day experience for fans of the current Gallagher Premiership Rugby Champions, complementing the club's ‘Turn up the Noise’ campaign.

PPL PRS is headquartered in Mercury Place, near Leicester Station, and has responsibility for issuing licences - called TheMusicLicence - to businesses that play music to their customers and staff. As headline partner of entertainment it will support emerging, local talent to be showcased to visitors to the Mattioli Woods Welford Road stadium.

The deal will also allow fans to get interactive on match days by creating playlists that will be shared on social media and on the stadium screens. Tigers fans will also be able to find out what music their favourite players listen to pre- and post-match.

Management at Tigers - the most successful rugby club in premiership history - were keen to work with the team behind TheMusicLicence to show their support for the talented artists who create the music that the fans and players listen to. The fees paid by businesses for TheMusicLicence are returned, after operating costs, to music creators as royalties by its parent organisations PPL and PRS for Music.

Mark Davies, head of business development at Leicester Tigers, said: “We are delighted to officially partner with PPL PRS.

"Not only do they play a pivotal role within the music industry they are also a big contributor to the Leicester community whether its employing local talent, promoting local music talent and supporting the wider community, all of whom we look forward to building in to the match day experience here at Mattioli Woods Welford Road this coming season.”

PPL PRS managing director Andrea Gray said: “We are delighted to announce that we are now the official music partner of the Leicester Tigers.

"This is an excellent opportunity for two of Leicester’s major employers to work together to not only create an even better match day experience for fans, but to also support local music artists and continue to build on the strong business community we have here in the city.

"We are looking forward to ‘turning up the noise’ with everyone at the Tigers family.”
