People's Party (PP) list-MP and opposition chief whip Parit Wacharasindhu has stepped up pressure on the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate politicians allegedly linked to the manipulation of the 2024 Senate election.
Mr Parit's latest move follows his claim that he uncovered a money trail connecting a local politician in Amnat Charoen with an Election Commission (EC) official, involving transfers totalling 860,000 baht between April and July 2024 -- a period overlapping with the Senate election process.
Mr Parit said on Tuesday that he had asked the NACC to examine the asset declaration of Yanee Sifa, an Amnat Charoen provincial administrative organisation (PAO) member. This came after he uncovered evidence of transfers totalling 860,000 baht from her to an EC official between April and July 2024 -- a period overlapping with the Senate election process.
The PP has used the term "blue camp" to refer to the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) and its political allies.
Mr Parit said he had initially presented the alleged money trail on Sunday but had yet to receive an explanation from the EC.
He said he had therefore asked the commission to clarify whether it had investigated the transfers, their purpose and whether they were connected to the Senate election, as well as the status and findings of any inquiry.
The move follows the EC's 26th inquiry subcommittee, which worked with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to examine alleged collusion in the Senate election.
The panel concluded in July that 138 of the 200 sitting senators had obtained their seats through unlawful means and implicated another 91 politicians and associates, bringing the total number of people recommended for prosecution to 229.
Mr Parit also questioned why the NACC had not published the results of its examination of Ms Yanee's asset declaration after she was elected to the Amnat Charoen PAO in February 2025.
He said the NACC had published the results of asset examinations for 18 of the 24 PAO members elected at the same time, with no irregularities reported. However, no results had been published for six members, including Ms Yanee and Sitthikorn Wantaneeyakul, who shares a surname with Prime Minister's Office Minister Suksomruay Wantaneeyakul.
Mr Parit asked the NACC to clarify whether Ms Yanee had failed to submit her declaration on time.
