Power cuts reported in Clifton and other parts of Nottinghamshire

Homes in the Clifton area are reported to be without power following an outage. Western Power Distribution confirmed around 277 homes are without power in the area following an outage on Monday morning at around 7:13am. Power is expected to be reported at around 10:30am.

It comes after large parts of Nottingham to the south of the Trent were without power for several hours on Sunday night into Monday morning following some extreme weather that passed over the area.

National Grid UK, formerly Western Power, issued a bulletin on social media in the early hours of Monday apologising for the loss of power mainly in the NG2 postcode area of the city. The company said that engineers were continuing to work on the fault and were hoping to have full power restored by 6:30am.

The energy firm did not say what caused the outage but it is thought that heavy rain overnight, exacerbated by gusty winds, may have contributed to the problem. The postcode area affected included Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave, Cropwell Bishop, Colston Bassett, Kinoulton, Tollerton and Keyworth.
