An East Kilbride councillor is calling on Amey to complete work on a busy pedestrian crossing as soon as possible.
Independent Councillor for East Kilbride West, David Watson, has contacted Amey Consulting over the delays in completing works on the crossing near McDonalds on the Queensway.
Councillor Watson said residents are having difficulty crossing the main road at what is an extremely busy junction.
He told Lanarkshire Live: "Amey have advised that they are awaiting a connection from SPEN for a power supply.
"They have found issues in being able to access the requisite power supply.
"Unfortunately there is not a connection date as yet, however Amey have said they are making SPEN aware of the urgency.
"Amey also plan to widen and renew the existing footways in the area as well. This is expected to be carried out in January/February.
"Work needs to be completed on this as soon as possible."
An Amey spokesperson said: “We understand the importance of undertaking this essential work for the local community and have highlighted the urgency to our electricity power supplier.
"We are expecting to have the electricity power supply connected by February of next year, and we will install the crossing equipment as soon as possible after this.
"We are also going to undertake improvement works to widen the existing footway at the same time.”
