Power NI £600 vouchers to be reissued after cancellations for some customers

A number of Power NI customers are to have their £600 energy support vouchers reissued after they were cancelled prior to arrival.

Power NI has confirmed that vouchers had been cancelled and reissued for a number of customers and that they will still have time to redeem them before the end of March.

It has said that the cancellations were a result of a number of issues which include a customer changing their details or address or vouchers being lost or damaged.

The energy supplier says it is currently working through these "exception cases" and that reissued vouchers are being processed every week.

A Power NI spokesperson said: "The vast majority of EBSS AFP NI £600 vouchers have already been issued, however there are some circumstances where vouchers have been cancelled and then reissued (for example, when there is a change of customer details at the address, or a house move or where a voucher has been lost or damaged).

"Suppliers are currently working through these exceptions cases and Power NI have reissued vouchers being processed every week. BEIS will allow exceptions vouchers to be processed beyond the 31/03/2023, so customers who are eligible for EBSS AFP NI and have yet to receive their £600 can rest assured that they can still receive their voucher."

Last week the Post Office said that 500,000 vouchers had been dispatched to households across Northern Ireland and that they should arrive by the weekend.

Although there are a number of Power NI and Electric Ireland customers who have said they are yet to receive theirs.

Some issues have arisen due to customers moving house at the beginning of January and not notifying their energy provider about the move, while other delays have been caused energy companies having incorrect data.

The Post Office has said that vouchers were sent out by them based on information provided to them by energy companies.

It has said that anyone who is yet to receive their voucher should contact their provider as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for Power NI said: "The Post Office and Royal Mail print and deliver the EBSS AFP NI £600 voucher letters. If anyone believes they are eligible and have yet to receive their voucher, and they have not recently made any changes to their account, we'd encourage you to contact your supplier. If you are a Power NI customer, we can check with the Post Office about your voucher."
