Power cuts and flooding expected as heavy weekend rain to hit Ayrshire

Rain set to hit Ayrshire this weekend could affect public transport and cause road closures.

The bad weather, which looks likely to arrive on Sunday, could also cause flooding in some parts of the county.

A Met Office warning has been issued for the weekend, starting late on Saturday night until around 6pm on Sunday.

The warning said: "Heavy rain may cause some transport disruption and flooding in places on Sunday.

"Spray and flooding on roads will probably make journey times longer.

"Bus and train times will probably be affected with journey times taking longer.

"Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.

"Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely."
