SP Energy became aware of a power cut in Shotts just before 10.30am this morning.
The power cut is affecting the ML7 postcode in the village.
A statement posted by SP Energy said: "There is a power cut affecting the ML7 postcode area of Shotts, affecting properties in Station Road and surrounding streets.
"We did not know in advance there would be a power cut, and became aware of this at 10.26am.
"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and our emergency response team have arrived at Shotts primary substation to investigate and repair the fault.
"Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 12.30pm.
"When we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
