Power cut leaves almost 300 properties in Swinton without electricity

A power cut is currently affecting hundreds of properties in Swinton.

The power cut is believed to have been caused by an ‘unexpected incident’ affecting the high voltage cables used to provide electricity to homes.

According to the Electricity North West website, the power cut has affected 290 customers.

It was first reported at 4:52pm on Saturday (April 24).

The power cut is affecting properties with a M27 postcode - which includes the areas of Clifton, Newtown and Pendlebury.

Electricity North West said it should restore power in the affected properties by 7:58pm.

In a tweet, the power network operator said an emergency response team were on their way to the incident.

“We are aware of a #Powercut in #Manchester affecting 290 properties,” the tweet said.

“We have emergency response teams on their way and will update more when safety checks are complete.

“We have an expected time currently of 19:58 for restoration.”
