A power cut left hundreds of homes in the dark in Toxteth on Friday night.
Electricity supply dropped out at about 9.45pm on Pickwick Street and its surrounding streets.
Scottish Power said it was aiming to get normality restored by 12.45am on Saturday morning.
In a statement on its website, the company said: "There is a power cut affecting the L8 postcode area of Liverpool, affecting properties in Pickwick Street and surrounding streets.
"We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 9:42pm.
"Our engineers have arrived on site and are investigating the cause of the fault.

"Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 12:45am.
"We will update this message if this information changes.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
