Power cut Edinburgh: 'Large number' of EH14 residents lose power

A "large number" of Edinburgh residents have been left without power this morning due to a fault.

Scottish Power have raced to restore power to residents in the EH14 postcode area of the capital - which includes Balerno, Currie, Baberton and Hermiston.

It is understood the power cut occurred shortly before 6:30am this morning.

The energy company have emergency teams on route to the scene but say they do not expect the issue will be resolved until around 8:30am.

A statement on Scottish Power's website reads: "There is a power cut affecting the EH14 Postcode area of Edinburgh, affecting a large number of customers in a widespread the power cut and only became aware of it at 6.24AM.

"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and our emergency response team are on their way to site to investigate and repair the fault.
