A power bank burst into flames while charging, causing a fire inside a condominium in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The fire started in a flat on the 6th floor of the condominium in the early hours of Wednesday. Rescue workers evacuated residents via the fire escape and activated all fire alarms before firefighters began tackling the flames.
The situation was under control in less than an hour, with no reports of injuries.
The tenant of the flat where the fire broke out said she had been charging a newly-purchased power bank. As she was holding the device, she said it started to spark and smoke, and caused a fire. She quickly left the flat to seek help as the fire spread.
Initial reports suggest that the fire was due to the power bank malfunctioning, resulting in the battery exploding while being charged.
