Poundland store with clothes and homeware sections to open in Bulwell

Budget variety store Poundland is opening a new shop in Bulwell - and it will include a clothes section.

The new 7,500 sq ft branch at the Springfield Retail Park, Hucknall Lane, will also have a homeware section and the company says it will complement the existing store in Main Street.

A total of 24 jobs will be created when the shop opens at the former Brantano store.

The Bulwell shop has also been added to the list of stores to get the full range of chilled and frozen food as part of a project to convert 60 stores by September.

Poundland retail director Austin Cooke said: “It’s great to be able to open three stores on one day and on a bank holiday weekend, too, when customers can browse our PEP&CO shop-in-shops.

“We’re very excited to be opening in Bulwell and especially because the new store will include our full chilled and frozen food range which has got a sizzling reception at the stores that have got it so far."

The store is set to open on Saturday, August 29, alongside two new stores in Telford and Banbury.

The new store comes at a time when the county's high streets have been plagued by numerous big-brand administrations, including Jessops and Blacks most recently.

Poundland says the investment is a "vote of confidence" in the area.
