Poundland returning to Swansea's Oxford Street with new store opening next month

Poundland is returning to Swansea's Oxford Street, with a new store opening in September.

The opening of the store at 18 Oxford Street marks a welcome return for Poundland after the previous store at 242 Oxford Street closed in April.

Poundland has confirmed it will give more information about the new store in coming weeks, but has guaranteed savings for locals heading there.

Announcing the news on their social feeds, Poundland poked fun at London's Marble Arch Mound, a new attraction that came under ridicule from visitors recently.

According to The Mirror, the man-made hill suffered an onslaught of criticism after it opened on July 26. It was then forced to temporarily close days later before re-opening and has since scrapped its entrance fee after backlash.

Sharing a tongue-in-cheek tweet, Poundland shared a picture of a mound in front of its store wrote: "Next month we're opening a store on Oxford Street... in Swansea.

"And here's an artist's impression as to what it may look like. Mountains of savings and free to enter! #Moundland."

"It's reopening thank god!" wrote one fan, while another added: "Moundland, I can't."

Earlier this week supermarkets and high-street stores responded as Wales went into alert level zero.

And while many restrictions have been lifted across the country, it's important to note that it's still mandatory to wear face masks on public transport and shops, unless you are exempt.
