Poundland plans to replace vacant Argos store in Arnold

Budget retailer Poundland is expected to move into a former Argos building in Arnold.

Proposals for new signs at the store have been submitted by applicants Poundland Ltd to Gedling Borough Council.

The store, located at 4 Front Street in Arnold town centre next to Wilkinson's, used to be home to Argos.

The retailer has since moved into the nearby Sainsbury's store in the town.

There were calls from Arnold Street shoppers and businesses for an 'anchor store' to return to the street last year.

There are currently Poundland stores located across Nottinghamshire - with the nearest to Arnold being in Bulwell and the city centre.

The application will now be considered by Gedling Borough Council's planning committee.

Councillors on the planning committee will make a decision on the plans.
