Poundland Local pilot store opens in Nottinghamshire this week

Poundland is opening one of its pilot Poundland Local stores in Nottinghamshire this week.

On Saturday (December 11) the former Fultons Foods store in Langold, Worksop, will re-open under the new name.

The store in Doncaster Road will be smaller than a typical Poundland shop.

The 'Local' format, which was launched in May 2021, is designed to bring "convenience shopping to areas not currently served by Poundland", according to the firm.

The Worksop store will be the company's fourth 'Local' store to be launched in the country.

Austin Cooke, retail and transformation director for the high street store, said: "The new Poundland Local will offer customers in Langold everything they would expect in a neighbourhood store.

“We’ve tailored the ranges so that customers can pick up what they need, when they need it just round the corner from their home.”

The revamped store will offer items from the brand's core range, including groceries, snacks, household products, health and beauty and batteries. It will will have "a big focus on food, from fresh ingredients to food-to-go".

Customers will also find items they would expect in a convenience store including fresh fruit and vegetables, chilled and frozen food, bread, hot pies and pastries, nappies and formula milk, beer, wines and spirits and fresh Lavazza coffee.

Fultons’ colleagues will remain with the store, so that customers will be served by the same team they’ve come to know.
