Poundland lifts restrictions on essential buys during coronavirus pandemic

Only certain stores have been allowed to remain open with during lockdown including supermarkets and those selling essential items.

Budget retailer Poundland is just one of the big name retailers which has kept its doors open to help customers stock up on its products which range from household goods to food cupboard essentials.

But like many retailers at the start of the lockdown Poundland put restrictions on how many of each item its customers could buy.

However, the retailer has now taken to its Facebook to confirm these restrictions have now been removed, Liverpool Echo.

Its post said: "Good news! We've removed all our limits on essential items. But please be thoughtful and only buy what you need."

Replying to one Facebook user who thought the post may have been an April's Fools joke as the post was originally shared on April1,Poundland said: "Not at all. We've removed the limits because we're back in stock on most items, so there's no need for people to buy more than they need.

"We just ask that people continue to shop considerately."

Austin Cooke, retail director, said: "This is good news for our customers who are following government advice on staying at home. We continue to urge shoppers to be thoughtful and buy what they need."
