Poundland is making a huge change to what it sells in 60 of its UK stores

Bargain lovers will know that Poundland can be an absolute goldmine sometimes.

Whether you're looking for a £1 engagement ring, a novelty rubber duck or a bumper pack of biscuits, the discount store will more often than not have you covered.

But while many Poundland shops have offered chilled food and drinks for years, there's always been one thing missing - frozen goods.

That's all about to change, though, because the budget store has just announced that 60 of its UK stores are about to get freezer sections. What a time to be alive.

Speaking about the decision to expand its chilled and frozen food selection, Poundland's managing director, Barry Williams, said: "It's clear from our five-store pilot that customers have given a warm welcome to our Project Ice offer that brings our promise of amazing value to more of what they buy, week-in, week-out."

Stores in the north and in the midlands will be first to benefit from the changes, with locations such as Gateshead, Hartlepool, Sunderland and Nottingham on the list.

Poundland says it expects to open the first 20 "shop-in-shops" by the end of this month. The remaining 40 are set to open by early June - so watch this space!
