Poundland changes rules on what you can buy during the pandemic

High street bargain retailer Poundland has changed the rules on what people can buy during the new coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.

As with many retailers Poundland brought in restrictions on the number items people could buy at their stores during the outbreak.

The rules came into force amid panic buying which saw supermarket shelves stripped bare.

Poundland this week announced it will close 100 branches temporarily for the foreseeable future.

They will mainly be in retail parks, shopping centres and where there are two or more branches close together.

Now Poundland has changed the rules around what people can buy.

Restrictions on the number of items have been lifted.

Poundland retail director Austin Cooke said: "This is good news for our customers who are following government advice on staying at home. We continue to urge shoppers to be thoughtful and buy what they need."

Eight out of nine Poundland stores remain open to serve their communities.

Other retailers have begun lifting and changing their restriction rules.
