Potholes everywhere: Drizzle adds to woes of commuters in Bhopal

BHOPAL: A few days of drizzle has exposed the bad condition of the in the state capital. In many places, the ballasts of the roads have come out and commuters are left with no option but to navigate avoiding the big potholes.

Bhopal barely received 2.8mm rain on Wednesday, as per the meteorological department, Bhopal circle data.

Poor restoration on the roads after laying new pipelines and sewage line linked to Kolar project has also been detrimental to the condition of roads. Constructed for around Rs 200 crore and completed in 2018, Hamidia road perhaps is one of the worst roads to drive on. The road stretching about two kilometer from Sultania hospital to Railway station, is water logged despite scanty rain on Wednesday. The situation is complicated by poor traffic management. Traffic check-posts at the intersection for traffic further slows the traffic down.

Muddy, slippery intersections along Hamidia hospital are expected to get worse, with real gust of torrential rain predicted to start in few days.

Kolar Road and its adjoining colonies too are in poor condition. The potholes are worst on the road from Indrapuri to Anand Nagar on Raisen Road. Ghoda Nakkas, Police Colony Road near Nadra Bus Stand and Shaheed Nagar in Karbala road has turned into a pond after rainfall.

There are very deep potholes in Karond railway crossing and intersection along with road near Housing Board located on Berasia Road. Roads have also become potholed in places like Alpana Tirahe on Hamidia Road.

Most of the roads are bad in Kolar and Awadhpuri too. The road from Avadhpuri intersection to Nirmal Palace has been washed away. Anna Nagar to BHEL road has huge potholes.
