Potentially fatal drugs stolen from vets after break in

A large quantity of potentially lethal drugs, as well as cash, was stolen in a break-in at a vets in Liverpool.

Officers were called to Medivets on Green Lane in Mossley hill on Friday morning to reports of the theft, which was believed to have occurred overnight.

Merseyside Police are now appealing for information, warning that human consumption of the drugs "can have serious or fatal effects."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information after drugs were stolen from a veterinary surgeons in Mossley Hill yesterday, Friday 29 October.

"At around 8.10am, officers were called to Medivets on Green Lane to reports that unknown offenders had gained entry overnight and stolen a large quantity of drugs, and cash. Enquiries are ongoing to confirm exactly what drugs were stolen.

"CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible and officers are asking for anyone with any information to come forward."

Detective Inspector Debbie Tipton said: “It’s absolutely vital that whoever stole these drugs understands that human consumption can have serious or fatal effects.

“Likewise, if you have any information as to who was responsible or have been offered any stolen drugs come forward immediately and we will ensure that the person or persons involved are brought to justice.

“If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, or captured their image or description on CCTV, dashcam or other devices, let us know.”
