A “potentially dangerous and violent” inmate serving a life sentence for armed robbery has been on the run for three days after absconding from an open prison, police have said.
William Charles Pearce, 39, who was sent to prison in 2003, went missing from HMP Standford Hill on Monday and is believed to have used a vehicle to travel in the direction of London, according to Kent police.
Pearce has a three-inch scar on his left cheek, a tattoo with the words “Mum and Dad” on his right shoulder, a tattoo with the word “Charlie” on his left forearm, and a tattoo with two stars and the words “Charlie Joanne” on his left upper arm.
Investigating officer Sam De Lozey said: “Pearce is viewed as potentially dangerous and violent, and I would urge members of the public to not approach him directly, but to immediately call Kent police on 101, quoting crime reference 09-1031.”
Pearce, who has links to Kent, Sussex, south-east London, north London and Birmingham, committed an armed robbery in Bexley, south-east London, in 2001 and was sentenced at Maidstone crown court.
