Potential Titans draft target Jon Runyan see Taylor Lewan as role model

Michigan tackle Jon Runyan’s ties to the Tennessee Titans go back a long way. Runyan’s father, Jon Runyan, played for Tennessee from 1997 through 1999 and has remained connected with the franchise ever since.

As he prepares to enter the 2020 NFL Draft, Runyan could be a target of the Titans, a team looking to add some depth along the offensive line.

In fact, Runyan was one of the offensive linemen the Titans met with during the 2020 NFL Combine.

One player the 6-foot-5, 321-pound lineman looks up to is Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan, who also played for Michigan in college. Runyan even says he emulates his game after him, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.

“I met Taylor and we stayed connected throughout the years. He and my dad have had some interactions… I saw Taylor, I talked to him for a little bit. He’s been a role model of mine since I was in high school, I always looked up to him and I love the style that he plays, I love how aggressive he plays and I just really try to emulate my game after him with his physicality.”

Runyan also noted that not only was he a fan of Lewan’s personality, but he also listens to the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, hosted by the Titans left tackle and Las Vegas Raiders linebacker, Will Compton.

The Michigan product made the vast majority of his starts at left tackle (25 of 26) for the Wolverines, but he did also play a bit at right tackle and guard. That kind of versatility could make him an option for the Titans on Day 3.
