Things are looking increasingly fuzzy for the future of Ryan Tannehill with the Tennessee Titans, and regardless of whether he stays or not, the team needs someone to back him up.
Marcus Mariota, who has said previously that he still has full confidence in his ability to be a starting quarterback, will likely sign elsewhere in free agency.
One prospect the Titans could potentially take in the first or second round is former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm.
Analysts have pinned the team to Fromm, including R.J. White of CBS Sports.
But, just like they are with LSU signal-caller Joe Burrow, many people are losing their minds over Fromm’s hand size, which measured in at 8 7/8 inches.
“It’s an eighth of an inch away from being the desired nine inches,” Fromm said. “…These are the same hands that went to three SEC Championships, a Rose Bowl, a national championship…”
Fromm isn’t on quite the same level as Burrow, but if there’s one thing the two prospects definitely have in common, it’s that their hand size hasn’t affected their level of play.
Fromm completed 63.3 percent of his passes during his Georgia career, with a drop in production in his junior year.
That’s where some are split on whether or not this was regression on Fromm’s part or if it had everything to do with the Bulldogs going through a transition within their receiving corps.
He did display overall consistency in each of his three years at Georgia, though, completing at least 60 percent of his throws, passing for more than 2,600 yards, and throwing for 24 or more touchdowns and no more than seven interceptions per season.
Whether Fromm is simply a game manager or more than that remains to be seen at the next level, and the Titans might be the team that gives Fromm the opportunity to answer that question.
