Potential return dates for Bolton Wanderers injured and absent players ahead of Wigan Athletic

Bolton Wanderers return to action this weekend after the international break with a big clash against Wigan Athletic.

Wanderers and the Latics have not been in action over the past fortnight due to having players called up to represent their nations.

And the game for when both sides return will be the early kick-off of the day in League One as Wanderers travel to the DW Stadium.

Leam Richardson's side are hoping to achieve automatic promotion out of League One and back to the Championship, and can do so with the division title.

Wanderers meanwhile harbour now slim play-off hopes, sitting 11 points from the top six with seven games of their season left.

Ian Evatt's side have a near fully fit squad to call upon for the encounter, but some members still remain out of action.

So here is a rundown of when those Wanderers players who have been out recently for one reason or another are predicted to be back available for selection.

Gethin Jones

The right-back has not featured for Wanderers since the loss on the road to MK Dons towards the end of February.

Jones has not played in the last four games after being on compassionate leave following the death of his mother Karen.

But the Wanderers vice-captain has since returned to the club and got a run out last week in the friendly draw for the club's reserves at Lostock against Fleetwood Town.

He could come back into the Wanderers team for this weekend's clash against the Latics.

Potential return date: April 2, Wigan Athletic (A)

Lloyd Isgrove

The winger has been out since late November due to a torn hamstring but has recently been back in action.

He started the reserves clash against the Cod Army, but came off midway through the first half of the encounter as he was withdrawn as a precaution after his return.

Wanderers boss Evatt is due to speak to the media tomorrow afternoon where an update is anticipated be given on Isgrove's fitness after he came off early for the club's reserves and if he could be fit to take on Wigan or not.

Potential return date: April 2, Wigan Athletic (A)

Kieran Lee

The midfielder has been out of action since mid-February and has undergone an operation on a heel spur problem which was causing him discomfort.

The former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder is back in training and should be back in action before the end of the campaign.

Lee was not in action in the reserves clash against Fleetwood or yesterday's against Huddersfield Town's B team.

It remains to be seen if Lee will be fit for this weekend's clash against Wigan, or if a return next week versus Portsmouth or the Owls might be more realistic.

Potential return date: April 5, Portsmouth (H)

Andrew Tutte

The central midfielder has played just once for Wanderers this season due to injury.

He picked up a hamstring injury and, though it has now healed, the former Bury midfielder has suffered other set backs in his efforts to return.

Tutte has picked up a calf problem which has re-occured when he has been rehabilitating.

Unfortunately, the player is not expected to be back in action this season.

Potential return date: N/A

Josh Sheehan

The Wales international and former Newport County midfielder has been out since mid-November after suffering a ruptured ACL.

Sheehan has since had a successful operation on the problem and has now returned to Lostock and working there on a daily basis.

The midfielder is progressing well and is possibly ahead of schedule in his comeback efforts and his poised to be ready for pre-season training ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Potential return date: June 2022
