Darwin Nunez is reportedly edging closer to signing for Liverpool FC.
The ECHO confirmed last night that the Reds are increasingly hopeful they can win the race for the 22-year-old Benfica star. The Uruguayan striker has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield following his impressive season in Portugal with Benfica, which saw him win the golden boot with 26 goals in 28 league matches.
Sources in Portugal have indicated Liverpool could offer a five-year contract, with a fee of €80m (£68.4m) plus €20m (£17.1m) in add-ons being touted. It remains to be seen whether a deal is done but Reds fans and journalists are already looking at the impact the potential new addition could have on Jurgen Klopp's side.

While the Nunez is currently in the spotlight as his future is discussed, his family life is much more private. Off the pitch, Nunez has a sweet home life including a long-term partner and a baby son.
He and his other half, Lorena Manas, welcomed their son, also called Darwin, in January. The couple's son was born in Almeria, with Nunez sharing the news on social media, confirming mother and baby were healthy in the heartwarming snaps.
According to OhMyFootball, Nunez and Lorena's long-term relationship began while he was still playing in his native Uruguay before he joined Spanish side Almeria in the summer of 2019. Lorena seems to prefer staying out of the public eye with her social media accounts being set to private.
However, she still boasts an impressive 18,700 followers on Instagram and she is sometimes seen in the odd rare snap with Nunez on his own Instagram account. He currently has 522,000 followers. She regularly attends Nunez's matches at both club and international level and is regularly pictured alongside him at full-time.
