Potential Kentucky transfer Gunnar Hoak reportedly to meet with Ohio State staff

According to reports, potential Kentucky transfer and Central Ohio native Gunner Hoak will meet with the Ohio State staff.

Things may be moving swiftly in the search for depth at quarterback for Ohio State. Ever since Matthew Baldwin entered his name in the now very famous transfer portal, it has left the Buckeyes dangerously thin at the most important position on the field.

Frankly, there’s not much out there to plug the hole in the dam, and OSU must move fast before even less is available. It simply cannot afford to have just two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. A quick look at the year 2014 will show you the necessity there.

To that end, news has arrived today that the Buckeyes are looking at potential Kentucky graduate transfer Gunnar Hoak. So much so, that the Ohio State staff will reportedly meet with him soon — at least according to Patrick Murphy of Bucknuts/247Sports.

Gunnar would seem to be a perfect fit for Ohio State as long as he’s okay with coming in knowing he’s going to be competing for a backup role. He’s originally from central Ohio (Dublin Coffman), his dad played for former OSU coach Earle Bruce, and his uncle is former Buckeye defensive-coordinator Fred Pagac.

In other words, his blood is likely still pumping scarlet and gray through those veins. The fact that he has already met with the coaching staff should speak volumes, and we should hopefully be on the lookout for some news about his future soon.
