Conservative political commentator Scott Jennings branded Sen. Jon Ossoff as a “garbage human” after the Democrat insulted White House aide Natalie Harp for her close relationship with President Donald Trump.
Jennings, who is rumored to be among those who could replace Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary, condemned the Georgia Democrat for joking that Trump would rather “travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace” than do his job.
“He unleashed a comment, so vile against a young Republican woman working in politics, that every woman in this country, no matter your ideology, ought to listen carefully and never forget it,” Jennings said on his podcast “The Scott Jennings Show” Tuesday evening.
Ossoff made the crack about Harp at a rally in Georgia over the weekend, elevating national attention to one of Trump’s key aides nicknamed “the human printer” for physically printing copies of flattering social media posts, op-eds and messages for Trump to see.
Trump and his allies, such as Jennings, have taken major issue with Ossoff’s comment about Harp and fiercely defended the 35-year-old loyalist.
Jennings went on to accuse the Democratic senator of insinuating Harp was “sleeping with her boss” to obtain her job as one of the president’s closest aides.
“She is a smart, talented person who wants to serve her country and the president,” Jennings said. “But for Jon Ossoff and the Democrats, well, she’s there because she’s a pretty blonde who must be sleeping with her boss. How else would she have gotten a job like that?”
The Independent has asked Ossoff’s office for comment.
When asked about Ossoff’s comment Tuesday, Trump compared the senator’s appearance to Pee-wee Herman. The White House “rapid response” then accosted the reporter who asked the president about Ossoff’s comment.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung called Ossoff “the biggest cuck loser in politics”
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement, “Jon Ossoff is a cringeworthy, feminine theatre kid cosplaying as Barack Obama. Nobody gives a s*** what this lightweight loser says.”
Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham called Ossoff’s attack “bizarre” and “choreographed.”
The fierce pushback on Ossoff has highlighted the central role that Harp plays on Trump’s team.
Harp has been a loyal aide to Trump for many years. She’s consistently photographed at the president’s side or, at least, nearby – sometimes holding a stack of papers for Trump to review.
This past month, Harp was among the few aides that Trump took with him on a military jet when he discreetly changed planes while flying out of Turkey due to security concerns – the reported incident that Ossoff was referring to when he quipped about her.
But Harp has faced some controversy in media reports for being unwaveringly loyal to the president, to the point of writing him heartfelt letters saying ”you are all that matters to me,” according to the New York Times.
Harp’s brother, Preston Harp, also described the relationship between the president and his sister as “very unhealthy” in an interview with The Daily Mail.
