Potential Eagles draft target Jeffery Simmons suffers knee injury during training

The Philadelphia Eagles will have needs all along the defensive front during the NFL Draft, and one possible target in the first round could be dropping down the board. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that former Mississippi State All American defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons suffered what is believed to be a torn ACL while he was training for the 2019 NFL draft.

Simmons is projected to be a first-round pick but this injury could have a serious impact on his draft status and where he’s taken. If Simmons does somehow fall out of the round he could end up being a great second-day pick for the Eagles at some point.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound stud amassed 58 tackles, two sacks, and three pass breakups as a junior in the SEC last season and could be a nice compliment to Fletcher Cox inside. Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman is in love with the defenders in this draft and has previously stated that the 2019 class has a historic defensive line group.
