The 2019 NFL Scouting Combine is underway, and the drills are being led by the offensive linemen.
With the position being the most pressing need for the Chargers this offseason, all eyes will be on the group. There have been a few players that have stood out thus far, including former Washington State offensive tackle Andre Dillard.
Dillard kicked things off Wednesday with an impressive official measurement, checking in at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds with a hand size of 10 inches, arm length of 33 4/8 and wingspan of 80 3/8. One day later, he busted out 24 repetitions on the bench press.
Fast forward to today, Dillard started off his drills with a 1.69 10-yard split. That was immediately followed with an outstanding unofficial 4.99 40-yard dash. His time ranked as one of the best among the players at his position.
As we got into the on-field drills, Dillard looked among the best. Being the one of the most prolific pass protectors in the class, the former Washington State product was silky smooth was his footwork.
Dillard concluded his morning by showing off his former basketball background. He amassed a 9 feet, 10 inch broad jump. Dillard, then followed it up with a 29-inch vertical jump.
His outing today should’ve solidified his first-round status, as he was one of the most polarizing offensive tackles. It’s unclear whether or not he will be available at No. 28, but if he is, then it would be wise for Los Angeles to turn in the card with his name on it.
