It’s Week 7 in college football and we have even more exciting prospects to watch. This week we’re taking a look at two prospects in a game between heated rivals.
I have identified over 200 prospects for the 2020 draft that I believe could be potential fits for the Kansas City Chiefs. I’ll be releasing mini scouting reports on these prospects in random groups of four up until the draft.
Check out the latest group of prospects down below:

LSU OG Adrian Magee
Kansas City Chiefs fans are a bit down on the offensive line after injuries have shown weakness in the unit. The last time the Chiefs invested a high draft pick in an offensive lineman, they hadn’t yet drafted Patrick Mahomes. With a franchise quarterback in place, it’s time to revisit adding some offensive linemen in the draft.
LSU offensive lineman Adrian Magee is an animal in the trenches and can play a variety of different positions. As a junior in 2018, he started 10 games at three different positions including both tackle spots and left guard. Listed at 6-feet-4 and 340 pounds, Magee has a massive frame. He can deadlift 600 pounds and that strength shows up on the football field, blowing defenders off the ball in the run game often.
That strength and animosity show up in his pass protection too. You may have seen this viral video from LSU’s game against Vanderbilt this season where Magee annihilated multiple defenders on the same play.
Kansas City desperately needs that type of nasty along the offensive line. I’d plug him in at the left guard position and let him go to work, knowing that he’s capable of flexing out to either tackle spot if necessary.
Magee has primarily been a depth player for LSU, so you’re probably not spending a first-round pick to acquire him. Still, I expect him to be drafted and wouldn’t be shocked if he rises throughout the process.

Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III
Do the Kansas City Chiefs need to draft another receiver in 2020? It’s a strong possibility with guys like Demarcus Robinson scheduled to leave in free agency. The team will almost certainly release Sammy Watkins given his cap hit in 2020. It will likely leave a need at the receiver position for the Chiefs and they could potentially go big to fill it.
Ruggs already does a lot of the things that fit within the confines of the Chiefs’ offense. He’s utilized on sweeps and end-around plays in the Alabama offense. He can get vertical and beat man coverage, but he’s also exceptional finding the soft spot in zones. His release and route-running are already NFL-ready.
An added bonus is that Ruggs is dirty-tough and capable of beating defensive backs at the catch point. He’s got a great vertical, locates the football and times things up perfectly to ensure that he comes down with the ball in contested situations.
Ruggs would send the Chiefs’ offense over the top, but spending a high draft pick and perhaps even trading up to acquire him is a risk. The defense still needs a lot of work and adding more weapons on offense would show that they’re going for the glass cannon approach.

Texas DE Malcolm Roach
Roach is a versatile defender with experience at linebacker, defensive end and defensive tackle. I don’t expect him to be drafted highly because he’s not a guy with a bunch of gaudy numbers. He’s more likely a late-round option or a guy you bring in to compete as an undrafted free agent.
He didn’t record a sack in the entirety of 2018 having played in eight games. In five games through 2019, he’s also failed to record a sack. How he performs in a big rivalry game like this match between Oklahoma and Texas could make a big impact on his draft stock.
Listed at 6-feet-3 and 290 pounds, this Longhorn is the prototypical Steve Spagnuolo defensive lineman. He’s stout at the point of attack, with the ability to work down the line in run defense. I’m not sure that Roach will ever be a 10-sack guy in the NFL, but he’s a solid rotational piece that could be utilized on run-stopping downs.

Oklahoma CB Tre Brown
Yeah, I know what they say about the Big 12 and their defenders. This kid from Oklahoma caught my eye a season ago when the Sooners played Texas. He had a corner blitz in the fourth quarter and got Ehlinger down in the end zone for a safety.
At 5-feet 10 and 185 pounds, Brown is slight by NFL standards. His reaction time, closing speed and ability to blitz probably make him a good candidate for a transition to the slot in the NFL. He tends to play more outside cornerback for the Sooners.
2018 was Brown’s first season working in a starting capacity. He finished the season as the team’s leader in passes defended with 12 and he had the most sacks by a defensive back with two. So far in 2019, he’s amassed an interception and two passes defended on the season.
Brown is only a junior and there’s no guarantee he declares for the 2020 NFL draft. However, if the rumors about Lincoln Riley being a candidate to leave for the NFL are true, some of the juniors at Oklahoma could seek to declare early. How they close out the 2019 season will be important too. If this team makes it to the college football playoff and the national championship game that could encourage juniors to declare.
