Week 1 of college football season is already underway!
I have identified over 200 prospects for the 2020 draft that I believe could be potential fits for the Kansas City Chiefs. I’ll be releasing mini scouting reports on these prospects in random groups of four up until the draft.
Check out the first group of prospects down below:

Stanford CB Paulson Adebo
We’ll start our prospect series off with a junior this year.
Adebo is a promising cornerback prospect with all of the tools for success at the next level. At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, he has the size to hold up in the NFL. In 2018, which was his first season as a starter, he led the NCAA in passes defended with 24 and notched four interceptions. That’s what we call a shutdown corner, folks.
As a junior, he’s been voted team captain and has been named to multiple preseason All-America first team lists. This season NFL front offices will be looking for him to clean up some of the mechanical and fundamental issues that come with only starting for a single season to this point.
The Kansas City Chiefs have major questions about the CB position in 2019. They have a very obvious need moving forward too, with only a handful of players under contract for the 2020 season.

Notre Dame EDGE Khalid Kareem
The 2018 season was the first season that Kareem started for the Fighting Irish and it was a successful one at that. He finished the season with 42 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and five passes batted. His long arms and hand usage make him the type of prospect that the NFL will fall in love with.
At 6-4 and 267 pounds, Kareem fits the profile that Steve Spagnuolo likes out of his defensive ends. He’s long, thick and capable of playing the run as well as the pass. He’s also able to play a few spots along the defensive line, and versatility seems to be something that the new Chiefs defense values quite a bit.
When you watch Kareem’s tape his effort flashes often and he doesn’t let up until the whistle blows. At the next level, I think teams might look to line him up on the defensive interior. It makes him an intriguing option for the Chiefs with Chris Jones becoming a free agent after 2019.

Oregon LB Troy Dye
The definition of a new age linebacker, Dye is long and athletic with plus coverage ability. At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, he has the size to play multiple spots in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. His fluid movement skills are extremely impressive. He can diagnose and get to the football in a hurry on screen passes, tosses, and sweeps.
Dye has three seasons of production for the Ducks, with two back-to-back seasons with over 100 total tackles in 2017 and 2018. He’s productive beyond just the tackle numbers too, notching interceptions, passes defended, and sacks in each of his three seasons.
There are two parts of Dye’s game that I think the Chiefs and Spagnuolo will really like. Those are his effort and communication abilities. Dye gives tremendous effort and is often around the ball because of it. That’s something that Spagnuolo has preached this offseason with the Chiefs. Dye is also a great communicator and gets his teammates lined up and flowing to the football.

Illinois RB Reggie Corbin
This is one player I’ve had my eye on for a few seasons now. I thought Corbin might declare as a junior in a somewhat weak RB class compared to the upcoming one. He’s bought into the Illini program completely and another year under his belt definitely won’t hurt him.
Corbin rushed for 1,085 yards in 2018. That number is the tenth-most by an Illinois RB in school history. His 8.48 YPC average in 2018 ranked third in the entire FBS. He’s elusive, deadly in space and he has breakaway speed. At the same time, he’s not afraid to run between the tackles and pick up some hard-earned yardage. At 5-10 and 200 pounds, he has good size that should hold up to the rigors of the NFL game.
This RB class is a strong one and I fully expect the Chiefs to come away with a back because of that. I’d be shocked if they take a guy early, unless one of the best players happened to fall to them. A guy like Corbin should be available on Day 2 and a bargain at that.
