Truffles and caviar are known for their high prices for grams worldwide.

However, in Denmark these luxury goods are nothing to compare with the humble potatoes. Potatoes in its early season is sold at a very high price on the island of Samsø.

The price during this period is about $155 per kilo, according to the island's tourism board.

These gold gems are harvested manually, the German news agency reported.

The Tourism Board said farmers in Samsø were competing to see whose potato will mature first.

Potato maturity requires skill and patience when determining the exact time of harvest.
