TORONTO — Gateway Newstands will soon begin distributing the free weekday newspaper 24 Hrs at locations in Toronto's subway system and at GO Transit stops in the Greater Toronto Area.
The exclusive distribution agreement with Postmedia Network Inc. (TSX:PNC.B) comes shortly after National Post publisher acquired 24 Hrs when it bought the Sun Media group from Quebecor (TSX:QBR).
Postmedia and Gateway didn't disclose financial details of their agreement, which will also see 24 Hrs distributed in Toronto's underground pedestrian walkway known as PATH, starting July 2.
The deal means that about 90 Gateway locations will no longer carry Metro, the free newspaper published by Torstar Corp. (TSX:TS.B), owner of the Toronto Star and other daily newspapers as well as the Metroland community papers.
