Postman caught using horrific racist insult while waiting to deliver a parcel

A postman was caught muttering vile racist slurs on the doorstep of a pensioner's home.

The Royal Mail postman is heard saying "Come on you black c***, hurry up. Open your f*****g (inaudible)".

The foul language was picked up by the homeowner's son who was listening live through a 'smart doorbell' that livestreams the camera's footage to his mobile phone.

Sardah Singh, 70, from Manchester, who lives at the property, did not hear the racist language, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Son Ben, 35, who works in finance, had the device fitted as a precautionary measure to help ensure his father's safety.

He said: "It was awful. My dad is an older man. He's quite frail, he has a walking stick. We are British born. I'm disgusted, appalled, outraged.

"(The postman) would have been looking at my dad when he said 'come on you black c***'.

"I was listening to it in live time. I was gobsmacked. I went back over it and it is crystal clear.

Ben said he called the non-emergency police number 101 who told him the postman's actions are a serious hate crime.

He added: "I'm just bewildered. That's just unacceptable. The C word is bad enough."

"(My dad) is worried. My dad is frightened to open the door."

The shocking footage shows the postman standing close to the front door and humming after unleashing profanities.

A spokesperson for Royal Mail says they have a "zero tolerance approach" to racism and says an investigation has already been launched and, once complete, the "most appropriate action" will be taken.

They added: "We expect the highest standards of behaviour from our people while out on deliveries and collections at all times.

"We have launched an immediate investigation into this matter. Once that investigation is complete, we will be taking the most appropriate action in accordance with our business conduct code."

Greater Manchester Police are investigating the 'hate incident'.
