The Evening Standard has teamed up with the Aziz Foundation to help improve diversity in the journalism industry and provide opportunities to British Muslims living in the UK.

A 15-month apprenticeship, which is full-time and pays a salary commensurate with the London Living Wage (currently £10.85 per hour), will be offered to a postgraduate candidate with a passion for telling important stories.

Candidates will be active within a British Muslim community and demonstrate intimate knowledge of issues affecting British Muslim communities.

They must also have a “long-term commitment to community/societal development within Britain.”

Experience across print and digital platforms and proven writing and research skills are must haves.

The chosen apprentice will get the opportunity to report across print and digital, contributing to the Evening Standard’s social media channels, data journalism, research and working on a range of in-depth projects including those on sustainability issues.

They will also receive day-release training for the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Diploma during the 15-month apprenticeship.

The placement is funded by the Aziz Foundation.

To apply, please send your CV, a covering letter and two samples of your written work to esirecruitment@esimedia.co.uk and copy in a.ahmed@azizfoundation.org.uk no later than 11 am on Monday 5th July 2021
