Postcode checker on the coronavirus 'tier' your area is in

A new three-tier Coronavirus restriction system has been put in place in England meaning that measures are different across the country.

Covid-19 restrictions have now been split into their tiers which are categorised as ‘medium’, ‘high’, and ‘very high’.

Tier one, or medium, will see restrictions stay at the previous level across the country.

Tier two, or high, will ban people from two households mixing indoors.

Tier three, or very high, will see pubs and bars forced to close.

Liverpool is the only part of the country to be placed under tier three restrictions currently.

Speaking in the Commons on Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “A postcode search on Gov.UK as well as the NHS Covid-19 app will show which local alert level applies in each area and we’re also publishing updated guidance to explain what the Covid alert levels mean for those who are clinically extremely vulnerable.”

To check the restrictions in your area, or any areas you might be visiting, the Government has created a simple postcode checker.

The checker, which can be access by clicking here, shows the tier of restrictions in an area and what is allowed, as well as what is not permitted.
